To configure pinger, there is a need to go to the page «LOGIC» of a device web interface:

In the section «Pinger», it is possible to configure testing the availability of the specified address via a network. A result of a test (pinger status) can be chosen as an «input» for a logic rule. It is possible to configure up to two pingers – «PINGER 1», «PINGER 2». Typical using of pinger is automatic powering on the backup equipment when a connection line fails.

Address – IP is used as a destination address for polling (for example, 10.10.0.1) or FQDN (for example, test.example.net). An empty line disables polling. On default: empty line

Polling Period, s (5-900) – a value is chosen taking into account how rapidly the fault must be discovered. Also, there is a need to take into account that too frequent switching of a power supply can decrease a lifetime of the equipment. If there is no response ,ICMP echo (ping) is repeated after a timeout is over, and not when the next polling period starts. On default: 15

Ping Timeout, 100-10000ms – waiting time for a «ping» response. Timeout is chosen after considering the operation speed of a local network taking into account the frequency of repeating unresponded «pings». If there is no response to «ping» when the specified timeout is over, sending «ping» is repeated immediately. If there is no response after 5 repeated sendings, a pinger status is changed to «silent», and repeats are stopped until the next polling period. On default: 1000

Status – its possible values are: «responds», «silent», «-». If polling is not completed, a status can be undefined. In this case, the rules that depend on a pinger status do not form any commands, and their outputs are controlled by other rules or keep previous statuses. A pinger status is updated automatically nearly 4 times a minute. Request (sending ping) and a status update are executed with a period specified in the settings. If there is no response, polling is repeated 4 times (impossible to change) with timeout specified in the settings (the maximum time of waiting for a response).

After setting pinger values, there is a need to click the button «Apply changes».
