[DKSF 707.1 IU] Page VARIABLES web interface

A list of SNMP variables that can be read or written by a Netping SMS device is displayed on this page.

SNMP Trap List Editing

To add an SNMP trap processing rule, click on the last (empty) line of a table. A form of adding a new rule will appear on a screen. A maximum number of rules is 32

Fill all fields and click the button «Save changes».

A short name  – is a name of a variable, which will be used in SMS messages. A name must contain no more than 31 characters. Using spaces is prohibited. On default: empty line

OID – SNMP OID of a variable. It consists of no more than 62 characters. It always begins with a point. For example:

.1.3.6.1.4.1.25728.8800.1.1.2.1
.1.3.6.1.4.1.25728.911.1.0

You may need to use a reference of NetPing MIB to fill in this field (see below). On default: empty line

Host – is a dropdown list of short names of SNMP agents, configured on the page «AGENTS». On default: An agent is not selected

Dictionary – is a table of pairs Value - Explanation. It is not obligatory to fill it in. It is used to bind numeric values of SNMP variables to a textual description, which is understandable for a human. Later a textual description can be used in SNMP commands instead of a corresponding value. The value must be integer. The explanation consists of Latin letters without spaces and underscores regarding a case. A total length of a dictionary is 127. To save a dictionary into a device memory, specific divider symbols are used (commas, brackets, spaces), which are taken into account when counting a length of a dictionary. In average, every Value-Explanation pair needs 4 divider symbols. Take it into account when filling a dictionary in.  .On default: A dictionary is empty

An example of filling in a dictionary is shown on the picture below:

To add a pair Value-Explanation into a dictionary, fill in the last (empty) line. To delete a pair Value-Explanation, delete data in this line and click the button «Save Changes».

To delete an SNMP variable, click it and afterwards click the button "Delete record" in a screen that appeared.

To change parameters of an SNMP parameter, click it and edit parameters in a window that appeared. Afterwards edit parameters and click the button «Save Changes».

To cancel the action, click the button «Delete Changes».

A Reference on NetPing MIB

A reference on NetPing MIB simplifies a process of adding new SNMP variables, if a NetPing device is in a role of an agent. Click the button «A dictionary on NetPing MIB» in a window for adding a new SNMP variable to invoke a dictionary.

A list of used SNMP variables is displayed in the left column of the reference. Choose a necessary SNMP variable and click it. OID of this variable will be displayed in the right column together with a small reference. In a dropdown list “select index” indicate a necessary index of an SNMP variable. Usually an index corresponds to a number of a Temperature Sensor, IO line. An index will be added into the end of OID. Check a checkbox “add OID name” to copy a name of an SNMP variable from a dictionary to a field Short name.

After performing necessary actions click the button «Insert».

To cancel an action click the button «Close».
